A woman accused of kidnapping her 2-year-old nephew faced a judge on Friday morning.

McAllen police charged 40-year-old April Regina Woodfork on third-degree felony kidnapping charges on Thursday.

Woodfork is accused of abducting her 2-year-old nephew Terrence Onne Bennett on Wednesday prompting an Amber Alert to be issued.

Investigators said Woodfork took the boy south of the border to Reynosa where she used to live.

The boy was returned to his family safe and sound late Thursday afternoon.

Woodfork appeared before a McAllen municipal court judge on Friday morning where she was issued a $5,000 personal recognizance bond.
