A woman has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for her role in a 2016 crash that killed a mother and daughter in Starr County.
Lisette Fuentes was sentenced to 50 years in prison Tuesday afternoon, Starr County District Attorney Omar Escobar has confirmed.
As CBS 4 News previously reported:
According to DPS, 75-year-old Elena Lopez Cantu and 45-year-old Maria Zulema Garcia were passengers in a Ford Crown Victoria traveling west on Highway 83 when they were struck and killed by a car driven by 30-year-old Lissette Fuentes near San Julian Road on June 12.
Investigators believe Fuentes was drunk when she drove across the median and struck the car.
