A woman is behind bars after she allegedly hit a motorcyclist and led police on a chase after she attempted to run officers over.
The incident first happened as Christina Medrano Gonzalez allegedly hit the motorcyclist Monday.
Witnesses told the Brownsville Police Department that 31-year-old Gonzalez attempted to flee from the scene while the victim was holding on to her car.
Officers attempted to get in contact with Gonzalez on the 2500 block of Southmost Boulevard, but the 31-year-old instead drove her vehicle towards the police officers.
As police attempted to stop Gonzalez, she allegedly led a chase for a few blocks until she was arrested on the 3200 block of Southmost Boulevard.
Gonzalez was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (motor vehicle), aggravated assault of a public servant and evading arrest with a motor vehicle.
No officers were injured from the incident, and the motorcyclist's condition is not known at this time.
It is not clear if alcohol played a factor with the chase and crash.
