Worm found in broccoli at Mission High School
A picture is worth a thousand words.
Action 4 News received several from Mission High School students---grossed out by a worm found inside a serving of broccoli on Tuesday.
Mission CISD spokesman Craig Verely said the district took immediate action. All of the broccoli was pulled from the central kitchen and the manufacturer was notified of the situation.
Verely said the worm was undetectable. It crawled into the stalk of the broccoli, he said, and cannot be seen until the stalk is cut.
"It's not something that we consider acceptable in any form or fashion, Verely told Action 4 News. We took steps to address the situation and have it rectified."
The District wants to inform parents that they take child nutrition seriously and said students meals are safe---they called the worm incident isolated.
There were no additional claims of insects in the broccoli.
