A Mission man is behind bars after sexually abusing a child over the past four years.
Mission police arrested Jose Cruz Tapia on a continuous sexual abuse of a child charge on Sunday.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the 57-year-old man is accused of sexually abusing a child since 2009.
Police said the now 11-year-old child endured the abuse for years but told two friends at school what had been happening.
Those two friends told the principal, who involved Child Protective Services.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Tapia admitted to the crime.
Tapia remains behind bars at the Hidalgo County Jail under a $250,000 bond.
