When credit cards end up in the hands of the wrong people, it sounds like a nightmare in the making, but police have caught the alleged crooks who stole a woman TMs identification in April.
The suspects in this case are a young couple who are now spending time together behind bars facing multiple charges.
21-year-old Arlene Cavazos and her boyfriend 24-year-old Michael Saldivar face Judge Garza's in the courtroom.
Weslaco police said the Lovebirds broke into a woman's car and stole her credit card and identification.
The woman, who looks similar to the victim, was allegedly able to withdraw money from the victim's bank account.
Officers said they also used the credit cards to rack up charges.
Police caught them after receiving tips from witnesses.
"This case was really made possible because of people in the community, said Officer J.P. Rodriguez. Working together with you guys, the news media and Crime Stoppers."
Police said the couple broke into the car at the Ultimate Fitness Center gym parking lot in Weslaco.
They were arrested Thursday in Los Fresnos and are being charged with burglary of a vehicle, credit card abuse and forgery.
The Gulf Coast Violent Offender and Fugitive Task Force was called in to track these suspects down after almost a month on the run.
