Zetas blamed in ICE agent attack in Mexico

A Texas congressman is blaming members of Mexico's ruthless Zetas gang for a highway ambush that killed one US immigration agent and wounded another.

Michael McCaul, chairman of a House Homeland Security subcommittee, says Special Agent Jaime Zapata was chased down a highway in San Luis Potosi and killed by members of the cartel in the attack Tuesday.

He says a group of 10 to 15 armed men in two vehicles forced Zapata's Chevy Suburban off a highway.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agent Victor Avila was wounded in the attack.

McCaul says the agents identified themselves as U.S. diplomats hoping their attackers would honor the tradition of not attacking U.S. officials.

McCall is calling the attack a "complete game changer."
