Court records: McAllen man yelled 'I'm going to chop your head off' during machete attack
Officers arrested a McAllen man after he attacked another man with a machete Thursday night — yelling "I'm going to chop your head off," according to the criminal complaint against him.
The McAllen Police Department dispatched officers to Texas Inn, 601 S. 10th St., on Thursday night to investigate a disturbance.
When the officers arrived, they found a man with "a large laceration from the left side of his ear towards the rear of his neck area" on the ground, according to the criminal complaint. The man said someone called "Q" attacked him after they argued about a car.
A witness told officers that Quentin Marcel Allen, 44, of McAllen attacked her boyfriend with a machete. The witness said Allen struck her boyfriend twice, swinging the blade at her boyfriend's arms and slashing the back of his head.
"I'm going to chop your head off," Allen said during the attack, according to the witness who spoke with officers.
An ambulance transported the injured man to McAllen Medical Center, where he received 15 stitches and 10 staples to close the wound, according to the criminal complaint.
The McAllen Police Department put out a "be on the lookout" alert for Allen's car. Not long after the alert, a La Feria police officer stopped Allen for speeding and making a lane change without signaling.
After the traffic stop, Allen "was really upset and began confessing" to attacking someone with a machete, according to the criminal complaint.
Allen is charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony.
A judge set bond at $100,000.
Court records don't list an attorney for Allen, who remains at the Hidalgo County jail and couldn't be reached for comment.
