Records: 21-year-old woman caught stealing 5 bottles of liquor from downtown McAllen bar
Police arrested a 21-year-old woman last week, when she attempted to steal five bottles of liquor from a downtown McAllen bar, according to the criminal complaint against her.
At 11:57 p.m. on March 3, the McAllen Police Department dispatched an officer to Snapshot Bar on South 17th Street.
The manager said Karla Ines Villalobos, 21, of Pharr walked by him with five bottles of liquor.
"He found it strange that the female was carrying five bottle of liquor, and furthermore the liquor bottles looked like the ones they keep in the manager's office which is locked," according to the criminal complaint.
The manager asked an employee to stop Villalobos from leaving.
When the employee stopped her, Villalobos dropped a bottle of Don Julio tequila and a bottle of Hpnotiq liqueur, according to the criminal complaint. The employee took back three other bottles from Villalobos: two bottles of Buchanan's whiskey and a bottle of Macallan whiskey.
The manager said he kept the bottles in a locked office but police didn't find any signs of forced entry, according to the criminal complaint.
Villalobos is charged with burglary of a building, a state jail felony.
"I'm still bewildered about it," Villalobos said, adding that she drank alcohol that night and doesn't remember what happened.
Stealing liquor bottles from a bar doesn't sound like something she would do, Villalobos said.
