State troopers seized nearly 230 pounds of marijuana Monday in McAllen.
At about 8:30 p.m. Monday, a state trooper attempted to stop a Dodge Ram traveling eastbound on Expressway 83, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The Dodge didn't immediately stop, and state troopers followed the truck to the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 495 and Taylor Road.
Troopers arrested the driver, 25-year-old Perfecto Garza Enriquez of Camargo, and seized 226 pounds of marijuana.
Garza is charged with possession of marijuana, a second-degree felony; evading arrest and detention with a vehicle, a third-degree felony; and evading arrest and detention on foot, a Class A misdemeanor.
He remained at the Hidalgo County jail Tuesday morning and couldn't be reached for comment.
