Amber alert issued for kidnapped McAllen toddler

Terry Onne Bennett

The aunt of a two-year-old boy reportedly kidnapped him from a McAllen home Wednesday afternoon.

An Amber Alert has now been issued.

McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez told Action 4 News the department received a call after 4 p.m. Wednesday that a family member took a two-year-old without permission.

When officers arrived at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Jasmine, a man told police his sister, 39-year-old Regina Woodfork, grabbed two-year-old Terry Onne Bennett and took off.

There wasn TMt a fight or any suspicious circumstances said Chief Rodriguez.

Rodriguez said this was the first time Woodfork had reportedly taken the child without permission.

Authorities are on high alert at the ports of entry, because Woodfork is from Tamaulipas and has lived in Reynosa.

Woodfork is believed to be traveling in a gray or silver four door Ford Focus with paper tags.

If you have any information on this kidnapping, call McAllen Crime Stoppers at (956) 687-TIPS.
