The Texas Department of Public Safety rebuked a report that Islamic State militants are operating a camp near the Texas-Mexico border.

The Department of Public Safety and it TMs intelligence community partners have no such credible information to corroborate or validate this today, said Department of Public Safety Deputy Director Robert J. Bodisch in a memo obtained by Texas Monthly.

A report by Judicial Watch " a right-wing government watchdog group " said a camp was operating just a few miles from El Paso, Texas, citing sources in Mexico.

The memo, addressed to honorable members and chiefs of staff, highlighted a previous report by Judicial Watch declaring Islamic terrorists were apprehended by federal authorities in McAllen and Pharr.

Neither the department, nor the intelligence community could confirm those statements nor did they have any credible information, according to the memo.

Former Texas Governor Rick Perry called for a continuous surge of state law enforcement along the border region in 2014.

It would be nave to dismiss the possibility of criminal organizations making their way into the U.S. from Mexico, according to the Department of Public Safety.
