Preventing hot car deaths with TDFPS- June 1, 2018

John Lennan with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services gives tips on how to prevent hot car deaths.

Texas Department of Family and Protective Services Media Specialist John Lennan says most cases of hot car deaths are accidental.

Lennan offers some tips for parents to prevent losing a child left behind inside an overheated car:

  • Leave a belonging in the backseat with your child, so you're forced to check the backseat
  • Put a baby bag in the front seat as a reminder that you're not traveling alone
  • Have an extra rear view mirror to see entire back seat
