Alligator found at home north of San Juan

Authorities are investigating how a four-foot alligator ended up at a home just north of San Juan.

The San Juan Fire Department was called out to a home off Eldora Road and San Jose Street on Tuesday afternoon.

A CPL crew was working in the area when they spotted the gator.

The work crew told the homeowner, "I think your lizard's loose."

The homeowner went for a look but learned it was actually an alligator.

Firefighters told Action 4 News that the animal was taken to the local Humane Society.

It's not clear how the animal got there but the home was near a canal.

Action 4 News will have video of the alligator during its 6 p.m. newscast.
