Polygamist cult leader Warren Jeffs has been extradited from Utah to San Angelo, Texas where he's expected to stand trial in bigamy and child sex abuse case.

The Texas Attorney General's Office announced on Wednesday morning that Jeffs arrived in San Angelo at 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The Texas Rangers and the Texas Attorney General's Office escorted Jeffs to the Lone Star State after taking custody of him in Utah earlier in the day on Tuesday.

Jeffs is currently being held without bail and awaits trial in Texas on two charges of sexual assault of a child and bigamy.

Officials assert that Jeffs lead a polygamist cult at the Yearning For Zion Ranch outside Eldorado, Texas where young girls were married to older men.

The Texas Attorney General's Office reports that seven of 12 Yearning For Zion Ranch-related suspects have been convicted of sexually assaulting children.
