Authorities are investigating how a woman's body ended up outside a building at the the University of Texas Pan American campus.
UTPA police reported that the discovery was made outside the Science Building early Monday morning.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the woman's body was found next to an outdoor stairwell on the side of the building.
School administrators send out an electronic alert to all students asking them to stay away from the area.
It's not clear how the woman died but authorities ordered an autopsy to learn more about her death.
Investigators have not released the woman's identity.
There was blood seen on the concrete.
Edinburg police, UTPA police and the Texas Rangers are all investigating the woman's death.
School officials said the Science Building has been shut down and classes there have been cancelled until the crime scene has been cleared.
UTPA Assistant Police Chief James Loya told Action 4 News that students should not worry and that the campus is safe.
School officials said UTPA's Counseling and Psychological Services (CaPS) is making staff available to the university community in light of Monday's incident.
