La Villa mayor faces charges, free on bond

La Villa Mayor Hector Elizondo is out on bond after charged with two counts of official oppression and prostitution.

Police said several women came forward but that's as far as they would go.

Edcouch Police Chief Eloy Cardenas said they've been investigating the mayor for six months and finally had enough evidence to arrest him.

"We needed to make sure that all the witnesses that came forward, Cardenas said.

The chief says allegations against the mayor have come up before but past administrations pushed them aside.

Elizondo is out of custody after being issued personal recognizance bonds for the charges.
