During January and February, Border Patrol agents intercepted 30 human smuggling cases which resulted in the rescue of 448 immigrants.

The rescues were part of a joint multi-agency effort to improve border security, dubbed Operation Big Rig.

Agents found the groups in the back of trailers or concealed within the cargo of the trailers such as furniture or produce. The most recent incident happened on Feb. 27 in Laredo after agents found 32 people in the back of the truck on Highway 83. The driver, a Mexican national, was arrested and agents seized the truck.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection is asking the public to report any suspicious activity by calling 911.
