AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE) - A San Marcos jury has sentenced Shana Elliott to at least seven years in prison for a fatal DWI crash in 2016.

The jury sentenced the former Texas State University student to seven years in prison for two deaths - a man and his unborn child.

They also sentenced her to 10 years community service for injuring the man's wife.

Elliott pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter after a crash on Highway 21 in Hays County that killed Fabian Moreno Guerrero and injured his pregnant wife, killing their unborn child.

Thursday, Elliott took the stand to apologize for her actions that day. She said, "I just remember as soon as the accident happened I knew that I had made the worst decision ever."
