Ocelots 12, Steers 0-For the visiting Texas College Steers it got out of control fast.
The No. 15 University of Texas at Brownsville Ocelots women's soccer team got out ahead quick on the Steers on Thursday afternoon at the UTB Soccer Field and beat Texas College 12-0 in front of a sold out crowd.
UTB got on the board twice in the first nine minutes of the contest with back to back goals by Hanne Neby to make it 2-0 and Nelleke Smits made it 3-0 with 22:42 remaining in the first half. All-American Isadora Freitas made it 5-0 before halftime once with 12:24 left in the half and then again with 3:34 before intermission.
In the second half Lorena Cardona found the back of the net with 36:30 left in the game and Neby completed her hat trick scoring with 30:02 left to take the lead to 7-0.Monica Mendes joined the action with two scores in the second half, once with 25:11 left and then again with 10:25 remaining. Freitas squeezed in a goal between Mendes goals with 15:09 left for her very own hat trick. Jessica Santacruz finished the deal for UTB, scoring with 9:15 left on the game clock.
The Steers Paloma Bermudez accidently scored on her own goal, which finalized all scoring.
The Red River Athletic Conference win takes the Ocelots to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in conference.

The No. 11 University of Texas at Brownsville Ocelots men's soccer team got off to a slow start but a first half goal by two-time All-American Mario Perez was the difference maker and beat the visiting Texas College Steers 3-0 in front of a sold out crowd at the UTB Soccer Field.
It was the second Red River Athletic Conference matchup of the season for UTB.
"Firstly I give Texas College and their coaching staff a boatload of credit." CoachDan Balaguero said. "They came in here with organization and had the confidence to play us straight up."
With the first half winding down Perez made a wide open cut to the goal and Texas College goalie Mario Lopez tackled Perez warranting a yellow flag inside the penalty area. Perez would make good on his penalty kick to make it 1-0 with 12:30 left in the first half.
In the second half, Brownsville's own Carlos Acevedo found the back of the net twice to make it 3-0. Once with 30:11 left in the game and his second goal with 9:50 left in regulation.
Balaguero added, "We struggled with our final ball on numerous occasions but all credit to our guys for grinding for ninety minutes. We worked really hard and although we were not at our best we are thrilled with the 3-0 win."
The win puts UTB at 9-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
