UTRGV's Goff Ready To Lead Vaqueros Once More
University of Texas Rio Grande Valley senior guard Shawnte' Goff earned Preseason WAC Player of the Year and Preseason All-WAC First Team honors by both the coaches and the media.
Goff is the reigning WAC Player of the Year after also earning spots on the All-WAC First Team and the All-Defensive Team.
During WAC play last season, Goff averaged a WAC-leading 16.1 points per game while playing a conference-high 35.9 minutes per game. She also ranked fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.5), free throw shooting (.794) and defensive rebounding (5.4), seventh in assists (3.3) and three-pointers made per game (1.9), 13th in steals (1.4) and blocks per game (0.6), and 18th in total rebounding (5.6).
Overall, Goff led the WAC in four different categories, including scoring (15.5), total points (512), field goal attempts (510), and three-point attempts (233). She also ranked second in minutes per game (35.1) and total minutes played (1,158), third in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6), tied for fifth in three-pointers per game (2.0), sixth in assists per game (3.2) and total three-pointers made (67), and seventh in free throw shooting (.752) and steals per game (1.6).
Goff broke the program single-season record for minutes played (1,158) while ranking second in field goal attempts (510) and three-point attempts (233), fourth in free throws made (109), fifth in points (512), field goals made (168) and three-pointers made (67), sixth in free throw attempts (145), and 10th in assists (106).
For her career, Goff is the program's all-time leader in field goal attempts (1,344), ranks second in points (1,390), field goals made (476) and free throws made (272), third in free throw attempts (359), fourth in three-pointers made (166) and attempted (536), fifth in assists (245), eighth in blocks (52), and ninth in steals (142).
