Cardinal spirit-- Never dies!
The Harlingen Cardinals have boarded up and are bound for Kingsville.
The Rio Grande Valley's only remaining playoff football team squares off against San Antonio Madison at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Head Coach Manny Gomez says the team hit the gym for a light workout this morning to get the mind, body and soul ready for the big quarter final game.
"Relax the mind a little bit ... It's the calm before the storm," the coach said.
The team is undoubtedly pumped up for the ride on Highway 77 North.
Rocky IV plays on their bus TV screens.
But the real motivation comes from the coach's belief, the Cardinals can truly pull off a victory for the Valley.
"It is possible to be a State Champion at any school here in the Valley... Just got to put that mind together... It is great to see the Valley come together as one," Coach Gomez said.
The game is a sell out.
Action 4 News is exclusively televising the live coverage.
But this team isn't focused on the high publicity, rather the plan in place.
"Strap it on," the coach said. "Strap it on ... Go to work!"
