The City of Brownsville will get a big boost to its economy from the Historic Brownsville Open, organizers told Action 4 News.
"Last year we had about $200,000-$250,000 in economic impact, said Bean Ayala, the president and CEO of the Brownsville Convention and Visitors Bureau. We TMre hoping this year to cross the $300,000, maybe even reach the $350,000 impact."
This will be the second year the professional development tournament will take place in Brownsville.
Ayala told Action 4 News, hotels will not be the only ones to benefit from the events, especially since more than 2000 people are expected to attend.
"Of course restaurants will benefit greatly and were hoping our malls, our shops, our stores," he added.
The three-day tournament will begin on Friday and continue until Sunday evening at the Rancho Viejo Golf Course.
