Forget the NBA finals! For Berta Cabaza Middle School in San Benito, their biggest game this year was this afternoon in their school gym.
That's where students took on their teachers during the school's annual basketball standoff.
The basketball games are a really good way for 8th graders to release some stress from homework.
Two students told Action 4 News they were hoping to score many points and teach their teachers a lesson.
The action started early, as the staff jumped out to huge early lead.
The students scrapped back after half time with the crowd on their side as they rooted more and more for the underdog.
Towards the 4th quarter, both teams were aggressive and eager to claim bragging rights but in the end the teacher team went on to win the game 28-23.
Even though the teachers won, it didn't seem to dampen the fun.
The Students had a reason to celebrate.
"We raise money for the student activity account and all the money goes back to the students," said Principal William Snavely.
A job well done all around
