UTPA's Ramirez Named WAC Hitter Of The Week

The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Monday that University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) second baseman Bryan Ramirez is the WAC Hitter of the Week. While leading the Broncs to their second-straight WAC series victory and first on the road, as well as their first-ever road wins against Utah Valley, Ramirez, a PSJA alum, hit .667 (6-for-9) with six walks and a hit by pitch for an .813 on-base percentage. He also stole two bases.

Ramirez reached base at least twice in all four games and scored two runs in each of the Broncs TM victories, 6-2 on Friday and 13-0 on Saturday. Ramirez went 4-for-4 with five walks, including a career-high three walks on Sunday, in the final two games at Utah Valley.

Ramirez is now riding a nine-game hitting streak, during which time he TMs 15-for-27 (.556) with five RBI, nine runs scored, three doubles, one triple, eight walks and two steals.

In 35 games overall, Ramirez is hitting .311 with six doubles, two triples, one home run, 10 RBI and 23 runs scored. He is getting on base at a .401 clip and is 5-for-7 in stolen base attempts.

In 12 WAC games, Ramirez is hitting .425 (17-for-40) with three doubles, one triple, five RBI and nine runs scored. He is reaching base at a .540 clip with nine walks compared to four strikeouts. He also has two stolen bases and has yet to make an error in 44 chances.
