BREAKING: Infante Out As Tarpons Head Coach
(CBS 4 Sports) - Sources close to Port Isabel ISD have confirmed to CBS 4 Sports that Head Football Coach and Athletic Director Jaime Infante resigned from his position Thursday afternoon. According to the source, Infante was given the option to resign or face termination.
The source said Infante was to be terminated for not adhering to UIL rules and holding offseason workouts with players outside the dates regulated by the UIL.
When asked for comment, Infante chose not to and directed CBS 4 Sports to the Port Isabel Central Office.
CBS 4 Sports reached out to the Central Office but have yet to receive a response.
Infante, who coached Lyford for 15 seasons before coming over to Port Isabel in 2017, put together just a 2-7 record in his only season with the Tarpons. In his coaching career which includes stops at Lyford and La Feria, Infante has a record of 108-92 as a head coach.
