Mercedes Independent School District officials are remaning tight-lipped after suspending head football coach Michael Uribe indefinitely.
Uribe told Action 4 Sports that he was suspended on Tuesday.
An exact reason for the suspension has not been made public.
Mercedes ISD officials declined to comment saying the issue was a "personnel matter."
But Uribe, who is also the school district's athletic director, spoke to Action 4 Sports about the suspension.
"I was shocked when I was informed Tuesday morning, but I understand and respect the process, and will let it play out," Uribe said.
Uribe said no formal complaints have been lodged but he was told informal concerns about his passion and demeanor on the sidelines has been called into question.
"I am a Mercedes Tiger through & through. I love my job & can't wait to return once this process is complete," Uribe said.
