New Wrestling Program At Schreiner Finds Talent In The RGV
(CBS 4 Sports) - A new collegiate wrestling program in Central Texas has taken a strong look at the talent pool in the Rio Grande Valley to fill out its roster for the inaugural season.
Schreiner University in Kerrville will be fielding a varsity wrestling team for the first time and with several recruiting visits to the Valley, Schreiner wrestling coach Troy Jewel has noticed the abundance of wrestling talent.
On Tuesday Jewell signed several athletes to letters of intent including Nikki Rowe's Alejandra Hernandez, McAllen High's Serena Cervantes and San Benito's Miriam de la Garza.
Jewell says he's signed seven athletes from south Texas and earlier in the year inked San Benito wrestler Camron Rodriguez and McAllen High's Grant Ehlinger to scholarships.
