Marybel Gonzalez, a Colorado native, is an Emmy-award winning journalist.
She earned her master’s degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism where she covered local news in Harlem and Brooklyn. Her final master’s project, “Sweet 15: The Changing Face of the Quinceañera," was published in The New York Times.
Prior to joining KGBT-TV, Marybel worked as a reporter for an investigative and in-depth news show at Rocky Mountain PBS in Denver. While at the station, she worked on long-form segments covering issues such as female veteran homelessness and sex trafficking of children in Colorado. She earned an Emmy Award for “Surviving Suicide,’ a report on teen suicide.
Marybel has also worked as an intern for CNN’s investigative unit and as on-air host for Telemundo Denver.
