Valley Biz Blog: Wing Zone moving into RGV with two locations

Wing Zone is opening two locations in the Rio Grande Valley

Let the wing wars begin!

Wing Zone is coming the Rio Grande Valley with two locations.

Franchise owner Nick Chandra is bringing one resturant to Harlingen and another inside La Plaza Mall in McAllen.

Manager Reymundo Cano tells the Valley Biz Blog that the Harlingen location will be located inside the old Wingstop off South 77 Sunshine Strip.

The Harlingen shopping center includes the new Wingstop and a Wing Barn but Cano says their prices are competitive but has other advantages.

Cano said Wing Zone has large chicken wings in 17 flavors.

The Harlingen location will have flat-screen televisions to watch sports but also feature $1.50 draft beers with special coolers to keep glass mugs cold at the table.

Another point of difference between Wing Zone and the other chicken wing chains is that provides home delivery.

Cano said the South 77 Sunshine Strip location will deliver to both Harlingen and San Benito areas.

The La Plaza Mall location will be in the food court and will not provide delivery service.

The grand opening date for the Harlingen location is set for July 12th while the La Plaza Mall location is set for mid-July.

Wing Zone was founded by two University of Florida students back in 1991.

The Atlanta-based company now has more than 50 locations in 25 states with four of them already in Texas where they have three restaurants in the San Antonio area and one in Fort Hood.
