1 arrested after police chase in Starr County
Authorities say one man was arrested and several people got away after a police chase in Starr County Wednesday morning.
Starr County HIDTA Task Force investigators attempted to pull over a grey Chevy Tahoe on Fairview Street for a traffic violation when the driver reportedly refused to stop and sped away.
The vehicle came to a full stop near Canales and Fairground Road after crashing into a chain link fence, where several people were spotted getting out of the vehicle and running away.
Authorities were able to arrest one man at the scene, who has been identified as Ronald Eduardo Velasquez of Guatemala.
Velasquez was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries he sustained on his head.
Border Patrol assisted in the search for the other suspects, but were unable to find them.
The case remains under investigation.
