Update: The driver of the Ford Focus, identified as Marita Moralez, 44, of Hargill, was charged with intoxication manslaughter following her release from a local hospital.

Update: The deceased passenger has been identified as Dee Rodriguez, 37, of Elsa.

Original Story: A woman is dead and another hospitalized after a one-vehicle crash near Elsa early Saturday morning, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

At about 3:52 a.m., troopers responded to a crash on Farm-to-Market Road 88 north of Farm-to-Market Road 1925.

Preliminary investigation reveals a white Ford Focus was traveling at an unsafe speed when it lost control on a curve and rolled over several times.

The female driver of the Ford Focus was transported to a local hospital with injuries.

The female passenger, who has not been identified, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The fatal crash remains under investigation.
