2 students taken to hospital, 50 suspended after brawl at San Benito CISD campus

Two students were taken to a hospital and 50 students were suspended following an ‘incident’ at a San Benito Consolidated Independent School District secondary campus on Wednesday, according to a statement from the district.

Parents are upset after a massive fight broke out at Veterans Memorial Academy in San Benito on Wednesday.

CBS 4 received messages from concerned parents and were even sent the video of the brawl.

San Benito Consolidated Independent School District officials say that two students were taken to the hospital and 50 students who were involved in the fight are now suspended.

Concerned parents tell CBS 4 the fight happened Wednesday after school and said they weren't told about the incident.

"We are supposed to get notified if our child is not showing up for school, but when they are in danger, nobody is notifying the parents saying, 'Hey, this is going on,''" said a concerned parent who wished to remain anonymous.

The parent said she won't send her child to school until the district figures out a plan of action.

"They want us to be sending the kids to school, supposedly it's a great environment," she said. "I hear all these things are going on and nobody is calling me."

San Benito CISD sent the following statement to CBS 4:
