376 pounds of marijuana seized after a vehicle pursuit that started in El Refugio

    One man is behind bars after he allegedly led authorities on a chase before he was arrested for the possession of 376 pounds of marijuana.

    Border Patrol was able to apprehend the driver, Jose Diaz Jr. of La Casita with the assistance of U.S. Customs and Border Protection air support.

    Starr County HIDTA Task Force took over the case and arrested Diaz for the offense of possession of marijuana, 2nd degree felony.

    U.S. Border Patrol seized the 376 pounds of marijuana on Saturday, Feb 16 at approximately 7 p.m.

    Police said the vehicle pursuit that started in El Refugio and ended south on Navarro Street in Garciasville, Texas.

    Diaz was driving a 2010 black Chevy Equinox that was used to transport the marijuana.

    No further information was available as authorities continue to investigate the case.
