A large amount of narcotics were seized by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents at the Falfurrias checkpoint on Wednesday.

We’re told there were two narcotic smuggling attempts.

The first was after agents referred a Chrysler Town and Country passenger car for secondary inspection.

According to the release, inside the vehicle, agents found eight bundles of methamphetamine weighing over 45 pounds with an estimated street value of $1.5 million.

The two U.S. citizens inside the vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency.

The second attempt was later in the day when a tractor-trailer, driven by a U.S. citizen, was also referred for secondary inspection.

Following further investigation, agents found 35 bundles of cocaine mixed within the cargo.

In all, the cocaine weighed over 90 pounds and worth over $3 million on the street.

The driver and narcotics were turned over to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
