61 pounds of meth seized at Roma Port of Entry
Officers seized more than 61 pounds of methamphetamine at the Roma Port of Entry on Tuesday.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say the seizure occurred after they detained a woman, identified as Irasema Cheguez, as she was coming from Mexico.
During secondary inspection, CBP officers found 27.8 kilograms, or about 61 pounds, of methamphetamine in a non-factory compartment hidden in the backseat floor board in the vehicle.
Starr County HIDTA investigators has taken over the case.
Cheguez was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony.
