U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers say the seizure occurred after they detained a woman, identified as Irasema Cheguez, as she was coming from Mexico.

During secondary inspection, CBP officers found 27.8 kilograms, or about 61 pounds, of methamphetamine in a non-factory compartment hidden in the backseat floor board in the vehicle.

Starr County HIDTA investigators has taken over the case.

Cheguez was charged with possession of a controlled substance, a first-degree felony.
