Alamo police make largest meth seizure in department's history
Nearly $10 million worth of drugs is now off the streets after a bust by the Alamo Police Department.
Alamo Police Chief Baudelio Castillo said they made their largest seizure of meth in the department's history Wednesday evening, which lead to the arrest of 32-year-old Jonathan Martinez.
According to Castillo, an 18-wheeler was seized in Pharr where over 450 kilos of meth and 4.5 kilos of cocaine were concealed.
Martinez is facing two counts for possession of controlled substance and a $200,000 bond has been issued for his arrest.
This is just one of many drug busts that have taken place since Castillo began running the police department, which has not gone unnoticed by residents.
"They're doing a good job," said Juanita Miller of Alamo. "They need to clean up all this mess even though it won't get cleaned up, but it's a start.”
"How much they have been going after people and we see it a lot here in Alamo,” said Norma Ortiz of Alamo.
Castillo said the case remains under investigation as more arrests are expected to be made.
