Border Patrol murder trial enters second day of testimony
The second day in the murder trial for Gustavo Tijerina Sandoval continued Tuesday.
Tijerina is one of the two men accused of shooting and killing Border Patrol agent Javier Vega Jr. at a fishing site in Willacy County in August 2014.
On Tuesday, six more witnesses took the stand to testify, including a witness who was fishing with her family on the day in question and a Border Patrol agent who responded to the scene.
Border Patrol agent Marcos Quintanilla testified that when he arrived to the scene of the shooting, he and other law enforcement followed footprints that led to a home where authorities eventually found both suspects.
Prosecutors also presented pictures from inside the home, along with items seized from inside, including a pair of boots.
Tijerina-Sandoval faces two charges of capital murder. If convicted, he can face the death penalty.
Testimony will resume Wednesday morning.
