Christopher Zigamar Garcia // Brownsville Police Department

A Brownsville man is behind bars after being accused of stealing a bicycle worth more than $5,900 dollars.

Brownsville police arrested Christopher Zigamar Garcia late Friday night.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Garcia is believed to have stolen a $5,900 bicycle from Bicycle World off Expressway 77/83 last week.

The incident was caught on tape with Garcia walking out of the store with the bicycle.

Authorities released the surveillance images and a tip led police to Garcia on the 4400 block of East 14th Street where he allegedly tried to flee on foot from officers.

Police charged Garcia with evading arrest and later charged him with state jail felony theft.

Garcia remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail.

Authorities have not found the $5,900 bicycle but anyone with information about it is asked to call Brownsville Crime Stoppers at (956) 546-TIPS or (956) 546-8477.
