Brownsville man found guilty of sexual abuse of a child sentenced to 55 years in prison
A jury on Friday sentenced a Brownsville man found guilty of sexually abusing children to 55 years in prison, according to a news release from the Cameron County District Attorney's Office.
Eloy Morin, 49, of Brownsville was found guilty of indecency with a child by contact and two counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child on Thursday.
According to the new release, Morin sexually abused two children under the age of 14. The children reportedly did not report the abuse "out of fear of what would occur if they told." After one victim came forward, another child reported abuse to law enforcement.
Cameron County District Attorney Luis V. Saenz stated in the news release:
“ On behalf of the citizens of Cameron County my most sincere thank you to the jury for showing the courage to do the right thing. And congratulations to the Child Abuse Unit for once again removing a sexual predator from our community.”
