Cameron County activates emergency operations center
Cameron County is getting ready for whatever Mother Nature may bring the Valley this weekend.
The county activated their emergency operations center Thursday morning in order to provide services and additional support for communities that may be impacted by additional rainfall and flooding.
"We're actually manning this for a long period of time throughout twelve hour shifts," said Emergency Operations Manager Tom Hushen. "We're looking at doing that starting in the morning, we'll work a little bit later tonight, but we are on call all night."
Thursday afternoon, the county also announced they will be closing three beach access points to vehicles until further notice due to the storm, including County Beach Access No. 5, County Beach Access No. 6 and Boca Chica Beach.
