Cameron County makes improvements to Rio Hondo park
Cameron County recently completed several projects at a Rio Hondo park.
Commissioners say the improvements at Adolph Thomae Jr. Park were made to decrease traffic congestion and make the area more accessible for visitors.
“The boat ramp is going to have 41 parking spaces for trucks and trailers,” said Cameron County Parks Director Joe Vega. “Its got two ramps, its got two courtesy docks, two fish-cleaning stations, and we have a parking system there at the boat ramp.”
The improvements were paid for with grants from the County of Coastal Assistance Program and Texas Parks and Wildlife, according to Cameron County judge Eddie Treviño.
“We’re excited that this is going to provide these additional services and resources for people who utilize and enjoy our nature around here,” Treviño said.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held on Oct. 27 at 10 a.m.
