Car thief escapes police in high-speed chase

A morning pursuit of stolen vehicle initiated by the victim of a crime, ended in no arrests.

Edinburg police said they got a call from a man whose black Dodge Charger had been stolen from Pharr. He informed police he was chasing the suspect.

The chase happened on Raul Longoria and Texas Highway 107 around 11:00 a.m., according to Lt. Trevino with the Edinburg Police Department.

Edinburg police ensued the pursuit down Alamo Road, but lost the driver when he turned south, as he was traveling at a high-rate of speed.

The pursuit was called off once the suspect could no longer be found in the area.

The victim filed a stolen vehicle report with the Pharr Police Department.

The suspect will also face an evading arrest charge.
