Cell phone tower fall kills man

A man dies from head trauma after he fell from a cell phone tower in Bluetown that was more than a 1,000 feet tall.

Deputies found the man around 6 p.m. Friday 30 feet away from the tower.

The company the man works with sent him out to work on the cell phone tower in the morning between Santa Maria and Progreso off of Military Road and U.S. Highway 281.

A source told Action 4 News that communication with the man and his company was lost throughout the day.

His office became worried and contacted authorities who found the man dead at the scene.

The unidentified man reportedly fell and was found 30 feet away from the cell phone tower.

A source close to Action 4 said that the safety line the man was wearing was too long for the fall from the tower.

The man was reportedly between 40 to 50 years of age.

The man TMs identity has not been released at this time.
