Dallas-area school district to vote on hiring Mission CISD superintendent
Mission Consolidated Independent School District superintendent Dr. Ricardo Lopez has been named the lone finalist for Garland Independent School District's vacant superintendent position.
The Garland ISD Board of Trustees will vote to hire Lopez after a legally required 21-day waiting period, according to a news release from Mission CISD.
Mission CISD board president Patricia Y. O’Caña-Olivarez said Lopez's "probable departure" was rough to take, and added that selection for a possible interim superintendent won't be discussed until after Garland ISD's final vote.
O’Caña-Olivarez stated in the news release:
“Nothing is final until after that final vote, after the 21-day waiting period. For us to take any actions now would be inappropriate. Until then, we will continue to work for the betterment of our students.”
Lopez became Mission CISD's superintendent in August 2013.
