Edinburg police arrested the former district director for State Rep. Terry Canales (D-Edinburg) on a felony charge of injury to a child Wednesday, CBS 4 News has confirmed.
Alejandro Jose Rios, 38, of Edinburg was arrested at his place of business, Kids Kollege Learning Center, located on the 300 block of Conquest Boulevard. Police say Rios had an arrest warrant stemming from an incident that was reported in September 2018.
Rios has since been terminated from his role as district director, according to Canales. The state representative tells CBS 4 News that he prays the allegations against Rios are not true.
Rios was magistrated and arraigned Wednesday by Edinburg Municipal Court Judge Toribio “Terry” Palacios and was given a $25,000 bond.
