Donna ISD teaching assistant accused of sending inappropriate Facebook message to student
A Donna Independent School District teaching assistant accused of sending an inappropriate Facebook message to a female student has been placed on administrative leave without pay.
Donna ISD says they took immediate action on Monday after learning of the message that was sent over the weekend, according to a statement from the school district.
DISD went on to say in the statement:
"DISD does not condone this type of behavior and is committed to providing a conducive and safe environment for all students."
The 17-year-old student's father says he filed a report Monday at the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office. CBS 4 News is withholding the name of the man to protect the identity of his daughter.
"It's very disturbing because when I work and sleep, I expect my daughter to be safe in school and I feel that the trust has been betrayed" he said. "I feel very upset."
The female student did not attend class Monday at Donna North High School because she felt too uncomfortable to come in contact with the teaching assistant, according to her father.
The teaching assistant was not identified in the Donna ISD statement.
