Doors officially open at Bert Ogden Arena in Edinburg
Doors are now open to the much-anticipated Bert Ogden arena in Edinburg.
On Monday morning, officials held a ribbon cutting ceremony in preparation of the center's first concert on Friday.
For the first time, the public got to take a look inside the arena, which is the new home of the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
"We've always looked at this project as making Edinburg a destination city. It's a place where you're going to go to concerts, sporting events. Big things! I'm not talking about a couple thousand people, but in the 9,000’s, in the 10,000’s," said City of Edinburg Mayor, Richard Molina.
Molina says they hope the arena will drive the city's economy up.
Luis Miguel will be the first artist to play at the arena.
