DWI wreck in truck full of kids ends with multiple criminal charges

A Rio Grande Valley man after is behind bars under a laundry list of charges after getting into a DWI wreck and fleeing the scene with four children in his car in Laguna Vista.
Laguna Vista police arrested 44-year-old Cesar Omar Gamez on multiple criminal charges on Sunday afternoon.
Investigators told Action 4 News that Gamez was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that got into a fender bender with another car at the Stripes off Highway 100.
Det. Julio Olguin said Gamez fled the scene of the accident, but the victim followed him and called police to give them his location.
Officers stopped Gamez TMs pickup truck where they reported finding two other adults and four children inside as passengers.
Police said Gamez appeared intoxicated and charged him with a DWI with child passenger charge as well as four counts of child endangerment.
Public records show that Gamez's last known address was listed in San Juan.
Gamez remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under $12,500 in bonds.
