Election Night ended with Democrat Eddie Guerra winning a four-way race for Hidalgo County Sheriff.

The four men were all vying to replace former Sheriff Lupe Trevio, who is now spending five years in federal prison for money laundering.

All 255 of Hidalgo County's precincts reported their final numbers at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday.

Some 79,478 people cast their ballots for the race for sheriff.

The night ended with Guerra getting 63.80 percent of the vote.

Republican challenger Al Perez received about 26.76 percent of the ballot.

Libertarian candidate Vince Ousley received about 5.06 percent of the vote

Write-in candidate Geovani Hernandez received 4.38 percent of the ballot.

Guerra was appointed as interim sheriff after Trevio resigned back in April.

The Edinburg-based Democrat told Action 4 News he would work to restore the tarnished image of the sheriff's office.
